There is no closing rank here of the kind an engineering seat has. The institute publishes a minimum CAT percentile — overall and section-wise — that a candidate must clear to be considered, and then draws the shortlist on a composite score that weighs the CAT score, the class 10 and class 12 record, the bachelor's degree, work experience and the policy's diversity factors.
Clearing the minimum percentile is therefore necessary and nowhere near sufficient.
The percentile requirements and the weights are published for each cycle in the admission policy and must be filled from that document before this page is published.
| Stage | What it is |
|---|---|
| Minimum section-wise percentile | The floor in each CAT section, published in the admission policy |
| Minimum overall percentile | The floor across the paper |
| Application Rating | The score built from the academic record and work experience |
| Composite score | What the shortlist and the final offer are drawn on |
Minimum percentiles are relaxed for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and PwD candidates, and the policy states the figure for each category separately. The relaxation applies to the qualifying floor; the composite score is then computed the same way for everyone within their category's pool.
The category table must be filled from the admission policy for the cycle before this page is published.
An expected cutoff at an institute that selects on a composite score is a poor guide, and quoting a single percentile as "the cutoff" misleads a candidate into thinking the percentile is the decision. The realistic reading: a high percentile opens the door, and the academic record and profile decide what happens at it.
