Support here is need-based rather than competitive: the institute's aim is that the fee should not decide whether an admitted candidate joins. Aid is applied against the fee rather than paid out.

The income bands and the amounts are revised each year and must be checked against the current notice before this page is published.

• Need-based aid: family income and assets below the thresholds published for the cycle, declared and evidenced.
• Donor awards: the donor's own criteria, which may name a background, a state or a field of study.
• Government schemes: as set by the scheme, applied for on its own portal.

Aid is reviewed each year, and a student's academic standing is part of what it is reviewed against.

1. Accept the admission offer — aid is for admitted students, not for candidates.
2. Apply through the institute's financial aid portal within the window announced.
3. Declare income and assets and upload the evidence named in the notice.
4. Await assessment by the committee that administers aid.

• Income tax returns or income certificates for the family, for the years named
• Statements of assets, where the form asks for them
• Category certificate, where a scheme requires it
• Bank account details in the student's own name
• The previous year's grade card, for a renewal

Applications are assessed against the declared income and assets, banded, and approved by the committee. The remission is applied to the term's instalment rather than refunded afterwards.
